14 Photography Ideas for Valentine's Day

Valentine’s day is right around the corner, which makes it a great time to take Valentine’s Day themed photos for your Instagram and other social media accounts. Just in case you're finding some difficulty coming up with photo ideas for this V-day, I created this list of ideas to inspire your V-day pic! Plus don't forget to sign up for my Free Styled Stock Photography at the end of the post!

Hearts

Hearts are probably the first things that come to someone’s minds related to Valentine’s Day. So, capturing pics of hearts is a pretty easy idea to execute. You can either buy heart props, cut hearts out of paper, or find heart shapes in your environment

Flowers + Roses

Floral arrangements and close-ups make great easy photos for Valentine’s day as well. You can get a variety of shots with flowers: Close-ups, macro, flat lay, etc.

Candies + Chocolates

Candy and chocolates are pretty obvious and common themes of Valentine’s day. So capturing some nice arrangements of your favorite V-day candy or chocolates would make great shots. Close up shots work very well for candy and chocolates.

Couple Pics

Since its the holiday of love, what better subject is there to capture other than couples. This includes engagement shots, wedding shots, and even couple selfies.

Gifts

Capture shots of adorable stuffed animals, gift baskets, and even fancy jewelry.

Red

Don’t have anything specifically themed for Valentine’s Day? Shoot something red.

Pink

Do the same for pink haha.

Candle’s + Wine

My favorite shots of these are close-ups.

Romantic Dinner or Picnic

Going out with your significant other for Valentine’s day? Capture your favorite shots of your romantic dinner  or picnic with them.

Romantic Locations

Romantic locations vary from restaurants, parks, malls, or personal spaces.

Decor

I’ve seen a lot of unique decorations for Valentine’s Day, such as reefs, sculptures, and more. These make great shots.

Styled Flat Lay + Still Life

Create a styled photoshoot from a mix of Valentine’s Day related props. You can get a lot of cute props for cheap at places such as Dollar Tree, Walmart, and Target.

Pets

What’s cuter than seeing your favorite furry in holiday clothing and accessories. Squeeze your doggy or kitty (or any other pet you have) into your favorite sweater and snap a picture. Or create a themed portrait scene for your pet.

Sensual Portraits

The season of love is also the season of sensuality, so it’s a great time to take portraits or even self-portraits showing a more seductive side of your subject. The main type of photoshoot that comes to mind is boudoir. Although boudoir is often intended to be a personal gift between romantic partners, maybe shoot something that is clean enough for the public but still sensual?
